September 30 is International Podcast Day. As such, I'm going to tell you about my five favorite podcasts and why you should listen to them.
1. Ear Biscuits - Rhett and Link interview popular youtubers. While youtubers can post quite annoying videos, it's intriguing to see what it takes to craft not just videos but a brand. The interviews provide insight into the personalities and personas while sharing what it takes to make it, applicable to any entrepreneur.
2. 99% Invisible - Roman Mars explores why the world is designed as it is. How did missing children's pictures end up on milk cartons? Do you realize that only lasted for two years? How did the shipping container revolutionize the shipping industry? It's a fascinating look at the world around us.
3. Scriptnotes - Screenwriters John August and Craig Mazin reveal what it's like to work in Hollywood. A writer's job isn't done when they finish the script. Sharing what it takes to make it, they will also help you become a better writer, not just a better script writer.
4. How Did This Get Made - Actors Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas dissect movies that are bad. Their commentary, insight, and questions are often hilarious as they try to determine the eponymous question. They also ask, "Would this movie be better starring Nicolas Cage?"
5.Detective - Relatively new, but fascinating, former police detective Lt. Kenda recounts stories from his investigations. How the manner in which someone falls can indicate foul play is one of many intriguing facts.
When talking about podcasts, I have to mention mine - Fridays on the Fly. Eric and Ward are creative people that discuss their projects. Ranging from woodworking, props, videos, and writing to what movies they've watched in the week, follow them as they build and create.
