Slime, Mucus, Snot

Guess what we're making? Slime!

Slime

Warning: Borax is slightly toxic.  We are not using enough in the slime to hurt you, but you should not eat, ingest, put in your eye ,etc.

Also, food coloring can stain clothes, and since the slime is part glue, it can set into clothes.

You will need, two measuring cups, a mixing bowl, water, Borax, Elmer's Glue, and food coloring.

In your first measuring cup, mix 1 teaspoon of Borax in 1 cup of water. Stir until the Borax has dissolved.
1 teaspoon of Borax in 1 cup of water

In your second measuring cup, mix 4 oz. of Elmer's glue with 1/2 a cup of water. Add food coloring if desired. A few drops will do. I used wood glue in this mix as its what I had on hand.

4 oz. of glue, add 1/2 a cup of water to this, and a few drops of food coloring

(If you want your slime a bit more runny, add 1 cup of water with the 4 oz of Elmer's glue.)

Mix the Borax solution and the glue solution in the mixing bowl. Stir it. Soon it will become difficult to stir and you can mix it with your hands.
Mix the Borax solution and glue solution together.
Soon you will have slime. Water left over in the mixing bowl is typical.

This is snot a toy, be careful with it. Leftover water in the bowl is normal.

You need to keep the slime sealed as it will dry out. I keep mine sealed in a resealable plastic bag with a bit of the liquid from the mix. Also, keep it in the refrigerator to prevent mold growth.
